African Bank partners with SASSA to enhance SRD grant distribution
Johannesburg - African Bank is proud to offer solutions that evolve with the changing needs of consumers. This commitment is exemplified through the Bank’s new partnership with the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), aimed at streamlining access to Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payments. This collaboration not only provides SASSA grant recipients with expanded access options but also reinforces African Bank’s dedication to delivering financial services that are truly “for the People, by the People.”
SRD grants play a crucial role in supporting vulnerable communities, and ensuring easy access to these payments is essential. African Bank recognizes this need and values the importance of partnerships that streamline and simplify the grant collection process.
"At African Bank, we value the partnerships and the people we serve who make our growth possible as we continue to expand our offerings and reach. Our partnership with SASSA is a clear demonstration of our commitment to enhancing financial service delivery and security for all," says Sibongiseni Ngundze, Chief Executive Officer: Consumer Banking, African Bank.
Our collaboration with SASSA now offers recipients the flexibility to collect their grant payments at Shoprite, Checkers, and OK outlets – this marks the start of an ongoing effort to provide even greater convenience to grant recipients. This solution came into effect on 21 March 2025 and will not impact consumers' payments in any way.
